Professor in the Department of Sciences of ITESM, she is a member of the National System of Researchers Level 2; It has more than 60 JCR indexed scientific articles, around 1200 citations and h-index 19 (Source: Scopus).
Dr. Ornelas' area of specialization focuses on the application of nanotechnology in the determination and remediation of contamination in water. His research interests have included: (1) In detection; the development, validation and application of analytical methods for the determination of drugs, pesticides, metal ions and compounds of social interest in different matrices such as water, soil, food, among others; through techniques such as HPLC, MS-GC, MS-ICP and Fluorescence; He has also worked on the development of biosensors and immunosensors for the trace level determination of emerging contaminants through the synthesis and application of nanomaterials in SERS and SPR. (2)
On the other hand, in the treatment, he has worked on the development of nanophotocatalysts based on Bismuth, graphene oxide and molybdenum sulfide, as well as on obtaining, through biotechnological processes, biocatalysts with the aim of removing persistent organic pollutants in water.
