Chemical engineer with a specialty in environmental engineering, in addition to being a teacher and doctor in water science and technology. He has research projects with Soka University in Tokyo, Japan, the University of California Santa Barbara and UNAM. Dr. Cervantes' research focuses on the optimization of bioprocesses for wastewater treatment, the application of membrane technology, the treatment of agro-industrial effluents, and the evaluation of nanotechnology for water treatment, as well as its effects on different environmental matrices. Pabel has received national and international awards such as the Young Water Professionals Mexico in 2015 by the International Water Association; The prize for the best doctoral thesis in Environmental Engineering in 2017 awarded by the College of Environmental Engineers of Mexico; The award "The best paper on micropollution and eco-hazard 2019", Seoul, South Korea, among other distinctions. Currently, Pabel is a member of the National System of Researchers Level 1, a member of the IWA Strategic Council and an IWA Emerging Water Leader.
